Temporary email for developers: testing signup flows without spam
Every signup flow eventually needs a real test: does the confirmation email actually arrive, does the link work, does the account activate correctly? Doing that by hand against a personal inbox works exactly once before your inbox is full of test accounts.
Scripting it
A disposable inbox with an API turns this into something you can automate: generate an address, trigger the signup, poll for the message, assert on its contents, then let the inbox expire on its own. No cleanup step, no shared team inbox getting polluted with test noise.
What to check for
Beyond "did the email arrive," it's worth asserting on SPF/DKIM/DMARC results in the delivered message — a broken sender configuration often shows up there before a real user ever reports it.
